Prime Advocates Foundation’s broad mission is to grow the social finance/impact investing ecosystem, “defusing the barriers inhibiting the growth of the impact investment sector and enabling the advancement of social enterprise innovation: making the planet and people’s lives better.” Anthony Murphy, founder of Prime Advocates.

Prime Advocates Foundation progresses its mission through charitable support for numerous transformative impact projects each year and charitable support for the innovative philanthropic actions of the not-for profit law-firm and consultancy, Prime Advocates. The charitable elements of Prime Advocates’ work include the provision of pro-bono legal and strategic consultancy services to scalable social enterprises and charities, as well as the offering of various educational initiatives to bring about systems change within the social finance/impact investing space.

Since the establishment of The Prime Advocates Foundation in 2014, the Prime Advocates Foundation has raised and deployed “in kind” resources totalling over GBP 250,000 and  in support of the following initiatives:

  1. The creation of free standardised templates for social impact investing accelerating investment in social enterprises in the UK
  2. The i-SEN.org initiative: a free virtual accelerator fostering post-graduate social impact entrepreneurship
  3. Internship opportunities: the Foundation sponsored amongst others, Hult University interns, Women Gender interns and two MBA students from The Kellogg School of Management in London
  4. Prime Advocates Social Finance Leaders Lecture Series:  for example, the 2015 roundtable on Financial Inclusion organized with Village Capital
  5. Women of Impact: a mentorship and social enterprise accelerator to promote the equality of opportunity for women empowering social enterprises. Prime Advocates conceived off and manages the project, bringing together leading financial services firms like Weil (international law firm), offering their market leading business skills as mentors, with innovative scaling social enterprises (mentees). Women of Impact continues to scale moving to Cohort 2 in 2018. Our completed cohort 1 – 2017 supports leading social enterprises like ethical fashion portal https://birdsong.london and HERA http://www.enterprisingspirit.org (refugee ups killing organisation).
  6. Social Finance HotDesk:  this is a social impact brokerage support programme which unlocks finance and expertise from “main street” institutions and advisory firms for the benefit of social enterprises. For the pilot, Prime Advocates is brokering legal support from Linklaters, a multinational law firm. Beneficiary organisations include: innovative social enterprise start-ups including AgriEvolve, a UK and Uganda-based ‘profit for purpose’ agricultural organisation working to improve the productivity and profitability of farmers in Uganda through investment and education.
Alongside funds donated from third parties and Prime Advocates Ltd (which has a long-term sponsorship agreement in place with the Foundation), Prime Advocates Ltd provides its support to the Prime Advocates Foundation through expertise and resources through pro bono hours, expertise and our network.
